Moving Mountains: Hope for young minds

by | Apr 14, 2023

Moving Mountains is a 4 week course, for 14-18 year olds, that aims to address some of the most common mental health issues that young people face in their daily lives.

Through delivering this 4 week programme young people will be able to:

  • identify, discuss and share strategies on how best to cope with their mental health
  • educate their families, friends and people close to them to identify when they are struggling and how best to support.
  • build their confidence and to seek support when they need it.

We use the analogy of climbing a mountain to talk about how tough it can be to deal with issues as a young person.

What are Young People saying?

“This is the first time in my life that I have ever been complimented by other young people.”

“The sessions have made me think about things differently and I am proud of what I have done in them.”

What are Youth Leaders saying?

‘The project has been a great success with all sessions being delivered in a way that was interactive and young person focussed, with all discussions and activities creating genuine opportunity for those engaging to explore issues important to them and build strategies to maintaining positive mental health beyond the project.’

Lee Crofts, Youth Team Leader, Compass Support
